Testing the Cybertruck Shatter Resistant Windows
A variety of balls, including golf and steel balls, were tested on the Tesla Cybertruck shatter resistant windows to see just how shatter resistant they are. This testing was done by Ryan, from The Kilowatts, as well as his friend Dave, a triathlete.
First off, Tesla originally said the windows would be shatter resistant even to a steel ball at the Cybertruck unveil event many years ago. The balls being tested on the Cybertruck are:
- Ping pong ball
- Golf ball
- Baseball
- Pool ball
- Small steel ball
- Large steel ball
These balls were all thrown at the Cybertruck windows to test them.

This test was done in order to see if Tesla’s original promise was intact from the reveal event years ago, where Franz and Elon said the windows could withstand a steel ball bearing. However, the ball shattered the window.
When the Cybertruck was actually delivered, they didn’t do a steel ball test. Only a baseball was tested and that bounced off the Cybertruck window.
Before the test, a blanket was put in the front seat and the back seats were lifted.
The ping pong ball was tested, and it easily bounced off.

Testing More Balls
Golf balls were thrown at the window hard and they easily bounced off the door.
A baseball was used on the window with hard throws, but they easily bounced off the windows as well.
Golf balls and baseballs would easily crack or shatter most car windows out there.
A pool Que ball was also tested against the window. These are heavier and denser. It also bounced off the window without causing any damage.
So far, the windows are standing up to the force. More Que balls were thrown, and the pool balls were damaged, but not the Cybertruck windows.
Next, there was a 1, 2, and 3 inch steel ball. These balls were thrown multiple times against the window.
The 1-inch steel ball caused no damage.
The 2-inch steel ball was thrown, causing no damage either. This is a big and heavy ball, but no cracking occurred. However, a slight mark was left on the window. It was then thrown again, but didn’t crack the window. A slight mark was left behind.
The 3-inch steel ball was then thrown. It weights about 5 pounds. This was also thrown hard by Ryan from The Kilowatts, but didn’t crack the window – not even leaving a mark behind.
Dave, a triathlete, threw the 3-inch steel ball at the window. His first throw caused no damage as well. Ryan then threw one as hard as he could. The window stood up to the force.
Dave then took another throw, as hard as he could, and this throw finally made a mark, causing the window to crack. However, the cracks did not reach the surface of the window and the door and window were still usable!

Lastly, a glass breaking tools was tested on the Cybertruck windows after it was cracked by the last steel ball, but even that was not able to shatter the window completely.
Tesla service came through to replace the window that was cracked – that same day.
Conclusion: The Tesla Cybertruck windows are VERY MUCH shatter resistant.
