The Tesla Model Y, which has consistently ranked among the bestselling vehicles around the world, is regaining its most potent trim. Tesla redesigned the electric crossover earlier this year, with the Model Y Performance trim getting dropped in the shuffle. Now, though, the wickedly fast EV seems poised for a return. View full post on XTesla hinted at the Model Y Performance’s return with a post on X that was simply captioned “Spoiler Alert.” What appears to be the rear spoiler of a car can be seen in the video, along with the date August 29, 2025—alluding to the date of the product reveal. Given our seemingly insatiable desire for kick-in-the-pants acceleration in America, we would be more than a little surprised if the brand chooses not to bring the revived trim Stateside, despite Tesla posting the teaser from its Europe and Middle East account on X.View GalleryMichael Simari|Car and DriverTesla is always coy with performance metrics, and the revived model hasn’t yet been officially confirmed, leaving us to make educated guesses. But, looking at the similarly updated Tesla Model 3 lineup should be a great predictor for the Model Y, which tends to follow in the sedan’s footsteps. The updated Model 3 Performance gets its motivation from a pair of motors (one for each axle) that combine for up to 510 horsepower and 554 pound-feet of torque. The current-generation sedan is more than just quick in a straight line, and we think the new Y will have solid handling characteristics on the road.
