SWITCH Mobility, part of the Hinduja Group and a global leader in electric buses and light commercial vehicles, has commenced deliveries of its SWITCH EiV12 low-floor electric city buses to the Department of Transport, Delhi. The 950-unit order, awarded under the CESL tender, was flagged off by Hon’ble Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, along with senior dignitaries including Transport Minister Dr Pankaj Singh, MP Sh. Manoj Tiwari, and senior executives from SWITCH Mobility and Delhi Transport Corporation.
The 12-meter bus offers seating for 39 passengers and features a wheelchair ramp, CCTV cameras, panic buttons, and GPS tracking. Its ultra-low-floor design ensures easy boarding, while LFP batteries and a fire detection and suppression system enhance stability and safety.
The buses are powered by SWITCH iON, the company’s proprietary telematics platform, enabling real-time health monitoring, intelligent transport management, and efficient fleet operations. Dual-gun fast charging at the rear end ensures quick turnaround and optimized depot space use.
RG Venkataraman, Chief Commercial Officer, SWITCH Mobility, said, “We are delighted to commence delivery of our EiV12 electric buses to Delhi, reinforcing the capital’s leadership in sustainable urban transport. These buses, built on global technology and Indian manufacturing strength, will improve air quality while providing safe, reliable, and comfortable journeys for millions.”
This deployment aligns with the Delhi Government’s vision of maintaining its leadership as the Indian city with the largest fleet of electric buses. The initiative is expected to significantly reduce CO₂ emissions, improve air quality, and raise the bar for public mobility in India’s capital.
