Multiple Cybertruck owners have shared how they convinced their wives to let them buy the all-electric truck.
The conversation started when a Tesla fan asked a Cybertruck owners’ group for advice on how to convince his wife that purchasing a Cybertruck is a good idea.
The Cybertruck enthusiast, who goes by the username Kpanda17, on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum, asked…
“Trying to sell/convince the wife on acquiring a Cybertruck
What tips can you provide to convince my wife to approve our acquisition of a Cybertruck?
She’s been in one but hasn’t driven it yet; she says “it’s ok.”
Any help would be appreciated.”

To his surprise, several Cybertruck owners responded, sharing the strategies they employed to persuade their significant others to let them buy a Cybertruck.
A fellow Cybertruck owner, YELMROG, writes…
“The thing that worked for me was telling my wife that the car can be a backup if our house loses power.”

Another Cybertruck owner from Chicago mentions that his wife wasn’t very enthusiastic about the Cybertruck when he bought one; however, she came to appreciate it when her phone died in the middle of nowhere, and the truck’s connected features came to the rescue.
The Cybertruck owner’s wife did not have the keycard to unlock the truck, and the phone she was using as the key died.
This situation can certainly be frustrating. Nevertheless, the Chicago Cybertruck owner says his wife called him using someone else’s phone, and he was able to remotely unlock and start the vehicle for her so she could drive home.
The Cybertruck owner writes…
“Sold the wife on the car when her phone died. She calls me from someone else’s phone, and I open the door and turn the truck ON for her remotely to be able to drive home.”

Additionally, the Cybertruck owner suggests mentioning other features to persuade a significant other to buy the vehicle. He highlights aspects such as a 5-star safety rating from the NHTSA and backup power capability as key selling points to convince one’s partner to purchase a Cybertruck.
A third Cybertruck owner shares that what convinced his wife to buy the truck was a test drive he took her on. The Cybertruck owner notes that they test-drove several other trucks together, stating that those trucks drive like trucks, while the Cybertruck is much smoother.
Ironically, the Cybertruck owner says the fact that the Cybertruck doesn’t drive like a traditional truck is what convinced his wife to agree to the purchase the vehicle.
He writes…
“I test drove other trucks with her and then the Cybertruck. Basically, those rides are more truck-like and rough, while the Cybertruck is cloud smooth. Just way more comfortable.
She liked the Cybertruck way better after initially being against it because of its appearance. Now she’s a super fan.”

Another Cybertruck owner, Jeff, says…
“Bought a Cybertruck recently, and my wife test drove it and loved it, but absolutely hates the look of it. She still calls it ugly and makes fun of it when talking to others.
However, she drives it and enjoys the full self-driving software, the comfortable ride, and the ease of use.
I have lifetime free charging for the Foundation Series Cybertruck, so with that and other benefits like house backup, running 240-volt power, and charging other electric cars, I have a compelling case. However, she still thinks it’s ugly.”

Another Cybertruck owner, Ace from Arizona, believes the key is to allow his wife to experience the vehicle firsthand rather than trying to sell it with words.
He suggests renting the vehicle for a few days, giving his wife the chance to drive it and fall in love with it.
Ace writes…
“I Turo’d one for the weekend and took the family on a little getaway. Once you experience what a GREAT family car it is, it sells itself. That will also give her time to experience it without the pressure of a test drive.
Try to plan a weekend that highlights its strengths: very light (not scary) off-roading, some scenic views, and at least one major shopping excursion.
Include some short but noticeable elements of annoying driving that can be handled by FSD.
Maybe carry along some harder-to-transport adventure gear like bikes if she’s into that.
If you have kids, make sure they get picked up from school or camp in it at least once by her so she can experience the truck being appreciated by little people.
The key is to let her drive it, but don’t sell it. Don’t ask her opinion about it during the weekend AT ALL unless she volunteers it.
That’s for the week after when the car is returned and she misses it. Good luck.”

Looking at the comments, the main points Cybertruck buyers raised to convince their wives seem to be the truck’s backup power supply capabilities, smooth ride, and safety rating.
However, some women also chimed in, sharing how they convinced their husbands to buy a Cybertruck.
A fellow Cybertruck owner, Steve from San Diego, California, says the situation was reversed in his household. He wanted to wait for a better deal, while his wife wanted to finalize the Cybertruck purchase immediately.
He says that initially, his wife wasn’t a big fan; however, she changed her mind and had to have it after taking one for a test drive.
Steve writes…
“It was the opposite situation for us. My wife was the one pushing hard to finalize the purchase of an inventory Cybertruck AWD that we had test-driven for a weekend.
She hadn’t actually cared for it much before the demo. After the demo weekend, she “had to have it” at any cost. I was the one suggesting we hold out for better Tesla incentives.
No regrets. Just look at real statistics for owner satisfaction.”

Another female Cybertruck owner from Texas, Jennifer, says she convinced her husband by stating it was the only Christmas gift she wanted.
Jennifer writes…
“My husband was against my purchase. Once the lower-cost non-Foundation Series Cybertruck became available, I made it clear how much I wanted it to replace my Tesla Model 3 and 2000 Chevy 2500.
His decision was partly based on saying it was my Christmas present because he knew it was something I wanted, and anything else he got me couldn’t compare.
That said, it makes him happy that I’m so happy to have it.”

Overall, based on the comments, Cybertruck owners appear to have employed various strategies to persuade their significant others to let them purchase the truck.
