If you’re one of those people who knock the Porsche 911 Turbo for looking too much like lesser 911s, the crew at RML Group has a little something for you. Well, it’s a lotta something, actually. It’s the P39 GT Hypercar—a widebody 911 Turbo S that is basically a Le Mans GT race car that can be driven on public roads. RML’s Purple People EaterRML Group, a European engineering firm, previously previewed a prototype called the P39 late last year. Now we have full details on the production model, which is called the GTH and takes an already incredibly high-performance machine and makes it, er, more incredible. Power comes from the 911 Turbo’s familiar twin-turbocharged 3.7-liter flat-six, which was tuned by Litchfield Motors. The engine’s upgrades raise the bar from 640 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque in the Turbo S to 920 ponies and 738 pound-feet of torque. RML GroupThe GTH’s awesome power is directed to all four wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. RML is claiming a 205-mph top speed, a 2.4-second rip to 60 mph, and the ability to lap the famous Nürburgring Nordschleife in around six minutes and 45 seconds—or about as quick as a Manthey-spec 911 GT2 RS. Helping the GTH achieve that time is hardware inherited from real race cars, including active front and rear aero bits and a drag-reduction system (DRS). In full-go mode, RML says the GTH musters more downforce than a 992-gen GT3 RS (2035 pounds at 177 mph, to be exact).The RML GTH pictured here has shiny eggplant-colored paint, which hides its custom carbon-fiber widebody. Compared with a standard 911 Turbo S, the GTH is about 3.5 inches wider and 6.5 inches longer. Completing the GTH’s look are flashy gold centerlock wheels that obscure a set of 10-piston front calipers and four-pot rear units that clamp ceramic composite rotors, so stopping power shouldn’t be an issue. There’s also a chunky two-piece rear wing that adjusts its profile based on the drive mode and driver-controlled DRS.
