Ram Truck Thief Calls Local Police and Says, “I Hurt Myself and I Can’t Get Out” After Breaking Through the Dealer’s Glass Window

“The only thing this thief was able to steal was candy from a salesperson’s desk.”
That’s what a staff member from Patterson Dodge in Tyler, Texas, told police after a car thief broke into their dealership to steal a Dodge Ram truck.
Here’s a bizarre incident from Tyler, Texas, that will tickle your funny bone. A Dodge Ram thief broke into a Dodge dealer, injured himself on broken glass, got stuck inside, and then called the police to get him out. It’s a real-life comedy you can’t make up; truth is stranger than fiction.

The report from KLTV says, “He told us, ‘I hurt myself, and I can’t get out.'”

Imagine someone wanting a new 2025 Dodge Ram truck so badly that they break a dealer’s front window thinking they will grab the truck’s keys and drive it out of the showroom.
But when he climbs through the broken window, he cuts himself on the sharp shards of glass. Now he’s bleeding, frantic to get out and can’t even find a door to escape from.
He Does Steal Candy
Now picture the thief rummaging through a dealer employee’s desk, finds candy and stuffs his pockets with the sweet stuff.
So, next, after thinking he can’t escape, calls police and asks them to rescue him. It’s hard to believe, but it’s a true story.
Tyler Police Department’s public information officer, Andy Erbaugh, says,

“A call came in from Patterson Dodge in Tyler where an active break-in occurred. The caller was the attempted burglar who had cut himself on the broken glass of a window during the break-in.KLTV in east Texas told Tyler Police that Patterson Dodge.”

He told us, “I hurt myself, and I can’t get out.”
A report for KLTV in east Texas says Erbaugh said the suspect, later identified as Jeremiah Megallon, 38, of Mabank, TX, hurt himself badly after throwing a rock through a window. The thief cut himself on what a member of the Patterson staff said was a 1-inch double-pane window.
A report from Automotive News says Erbaugh told Fox News Digital. “He had cuts from breaking a window at the dealership and crawling through it.”
Inside the building, and unable to make his way out, the suspect called Tyler Police Department for assistance.
It’s a case of failed thievery at its finest.
This thief only managed to steal candy from a salesperson’s desk. Justice was served, and the Dodge Ram pickup remained in its rightful place.
Patterson Dodge said the only damage to their facility was the broken window, which they say will be replaced shortly. According to a staff member, the only thing the burglar managed to steal was candy from a salesperson’s desk.
KLTV says Tyler police took Megallon to a hospital for treatment before booking him into jail.
The thief’s lack of escape options is almost unbelievable.

“Unfortunately for him, there were several unlocked doors he could have used to get out,” Erbaugh said. “After 26 years here, truth is stranger than fiction.”

Here is another story of a dealership break-in.
However, this disgruntled customer drove a Subaru Outback through the dealer’s front door.
Michael Murray was captured on video driving the Outback through the front doors of a Mazda dealership. “He then got out of the vehicle, yelled, “I told you,” among other things, to those inside, threw his jacket on the ground, and left the store.
He returned a few moments later to see if anyone was under the vehicle, then grabbed his coat and left,” the report says.
Murray was arrested later that day in the parking lot of the Mazda dealer. Murray told the television show “Inside Edition” that he “kind of blacked out for a second” during the incident.
In the Inside Edition interview, Michael Murray says,

“I was just really angry and upset about my money. I kind of blacked out for a second. I know that I probably shouldn’t have done it, but I guess I hit a breaking point.”

Conclusion:
Why didn’t he try to steal one of the Ram trucks parked out front? Maybe he was after the candy? Truth is stranger than fiction; you can’t make this stuff up.
