Ram Revived Street Trucks, Now Callaway’s 602-HP Silverado Fires Back

The Street-Truck War Is Just Getting Started Ram essentially revived the street-truck segment with the 1500 Rumble Bee, and if it becomes a commercial success, expect other automakers to follow suit. Some Chevrolet fans, however, have an alternative to waiting with the new limited-edition Silverado “Launch Edition,” developed by Callaway Cars Inc.

and Waldoch Crafts Inc. with quintessential street-truck features such as a lowered suspension and supercharged V8. Before anything else, this Silverado isn’t a direct equivalent to the 1500 Rumble Bee, given that the latter features more extensive modifications, including a shortened frame and wheelbase.

Still, the first joint project from Callaway and Waldoch takes the street-truck character of the donor Silverado RST even further. Callaway Cars Inc. Low, Loud, and Not Even Slightly Subtle Cosmetic changes include a body-color grille with an illuminated Chevy bowtie, SC602 badging, leather and Alcantara upholstery with topographic-map-style trim, co-branded puddle lamps, and serialized plaques.

Its lowered suspension features a coil-over front design and double-adjustable dampers, complemented by 22-inch wheels with Toyo Proxes ST III tires and six-piston front brakes with 15-inch slotted rotors.
