Talk about electric cars with just about anyone and one of the first concerns that surfaces is range. It doesn’t matter how stylish or high-tech an EV might be because if it can’t go far on a charge, then buyers start to worry. That’s why real-world range stories from owners are often more valuable than lab-tested numbers, as they often cut through the speculation and show what these cars actually deliver on the road. Earlier today, while scrolling through the “Honda Prologue Owners Group” on Facebook, I came across a post by Mario Flores that perfectly illustrated this point. Mario shared that out of all the EVs he owned, the Honda Prologue stands out with the best real-world range, averaging 332 miles on a full charge compared to his other EVs. He even mentioned buying a blue Prologue for his daughter in the Navy, and now his other daughter in the Air Force wants a black one of her own. Here is what he had to say:
“The Prologue fits right at home with the rest of my EVs. One thing is clear, the Prologue has the best range by far. I average 332 miles on a 100% charge. The Hyundai is at 301, Kia at 284, and the Cybertruck is at 318. Lastly, my original EV-hybrid Fisker Karma is at 44 miles. Final count of 4 EVs, 1 Hybrid, and 3 ICE. Plus, 1 Blue Prologue I bought for my daughter in the Navy. Now my other daughter wants a black one as she’s in the Air Force.”
Community Responses to Mario’s Post
Not everyone in the group saw things the same way as Mario. Other owners chimed in with their perspectives, creating a lively discussion around how Prologue stacks up against the competition.
Joshua Feldman commented: “Just sent my Prologue to college, so I picked up an Audi Q6 to backfill the spot on the driveway. Two things learned: 1. Q6 definitely has more/better range, and 2. For what it is, the Prologue has great value.”
Joshua’s point about value is important. While the Audi Q6 may have more range, it’s also a more expensive luxury EV. The fact that he still considers the Prologue great value shows how Honda is carving out a role for itself as a reliable and accessible option in the EV space.
Corey James added: “As someone who has done 26k miles with my Prologue, I’d rather trade it in for a Hybrid or gas car.”
This perspective underlines how ownership experiences can differ wildly. Corey’s high mileage already gives him a long-term view of the Prologue, and his desire to go back to a hybrid or gas model reflects concerns some owners still have about EV infrastructure and convenience. However, he didn’t go into detail about what specifically caused his frustration, so we can only assume.
Finally, Larz Harley shared: “I own a Prologue and a long range EV6. The Prologue definitely does not have the range that the EV6 has. My EV6 does nearly 400 miles on a full charge. You must not have a long range EV6.”
Larz raises a technical challenge to Mario’s claim. Kia does offer a long-range EV6 variant which can hit higher miles. This shows why it’s important to be specific about which trims and battery packs are being compared. Mario’s EV6 experience wasn’t the long-range version but his post still captures the reality of what most mainstream owners get.
Why This Perspective Stands Out
Mario’s words are powerful because they highlight something that’s often overlooked. Honda is new to the modern EV space, but the Prologue isn’t just keeping up, it’s excelling in a lot of aspects. For him, it beats out established models like the Tesla Cybertruck and Kia EV6 when it comes to range, which many consider benchmarks in the EV world. His personal garage filled with different EVs and gas vehicles makes the comparison even more compelling because it’s coming from someone with direct experience across multiple brands.

Real-world comparisons like this give us insights no spec sheet can. Mario’s Prologue isn’t just an isolated case either as many owners are posting about how the SUV feels competitive and practical. Of course, not every two owners’ experiences are the same, but stories like this stand out because they break expectations. It gets people’s attention when a Honda EV surpasses the range of a Tesla Cybertruck.
At the same time though, it’s worth pointing out that not every Prologue experience has been flawless. Some owners have reported frustrations like issues with the Honda Prologue’s quality. These contrasting experiences paint a fuller picture as some find the Prologue’s range and value unbeatable while others see it differently. That’s why hearing directly from owners gives us both the highs and the lows.
A Look at the Competition
Mario compared his Prologue not only to his Hyundai and Kia but also to his Tesla Cybertruck. Interestingly, the Cybertruck has already been part of memorable stories, like an 87-year-old grandfather’s final drive in a Tesla Cybertruck which he called “the most amazing drive of his life.” Stories like these show the cultural weight Tesla holds, but Mario’s perspective shows that range can still be a deciding factor even when a vehicle has star power.
As for Kia, Mario mentioned averaging 284 miles with his EV6. Some testing has shown different results, like in this report on Kia EV6 range testing in the snow where the driver experimented with various power-saving tricks. It just shows how variable EV range really is based on conditions and driving style that can swing the numbers up or down significantly.
From my perspective, Mario’s story shows just how much the EV landscape has changed in a short time. A few years ago, if someone said Honda would release an EV that owners claim outlasts a Tesla in range, many would have laughed. Yet here we are.
What really stands out to me is how family-oriented this post was. Mario didn’t just talk about numbers, but he mentioned buying a Prologue for his daughter in the Navy and how his other daughter in the Air Force now wants one too. That kind of story speaks to trust. If someone is willing to buy multiple of the same EV for their family members, it’s not just about specs like range as it’s about the confidence that owners feel toward the brand.
Key Takeaways
- Real-world EV range can differ greatly from official ratings, and owner experiences like Mario’s give us a clearer picture.
- Honda Prologue owners are finding both positives and negatives, from impressive range to frustrations with build quality.
- Competition in the EV market means one person’s experience with a Cybertruck or EV6 might be very different from another’s.
- EV ownership is deeply personal. Mario’s story shows how trust in a car can extend to family decisions, not just individual preferences.
- Range comparisons aren’t one-size-fits-all. Trim levels, conditions, and use cases can change the numbers dramatically.
