Mugen
- If you want the 2026 Honda Prelude to look a bit sportier, Mugen has already worked its magic with a new body kit.
- The setup brings a carbon-fiber front splitter, rear diffuser, side skirts, and mirror caps.
- Mugen will also offer a set of 19-inch forged aluminum wheels designed in collaboration with BBS.
Honda just revealed the new sixth-generation Prelude, a sporty coupe-like hatchback that borrows a four-cylinder engine and two electric motors from the Civic Hybrid for 200 horsepower and 232 pound-feet of torque. The revived Prelude’s styling is smooth and distinguished, lining up nicely with the docile, fuel-sipping powertrain. But if you want the Prelude to pack more of a visual punch, there’s no need to worry, since Japanese tuner Mugen has already cooked up an aggressive new look for Honda’s latest two-door.The most obvious change is a new set of 19-inch forged aluminum wheels developed with BBS, featuring thin arms sprouting from the center cap and finished in Diamond Black. Mugen says each wheel is around 8.8 pounds lighter than the standard rollers, totaling up to roughly 35 pounds in weight savings.MugenThe Prelude also gains a body kit that includes a front splitter with fins that shoot upwards just ahead of the front wheels, mirrored by similar elements along the side sills. At the rear, there is a small spoiler that rises above the full-width taillights and a redesigned bumper that now houses a diffuser and a more prominent pipe for a new sports exhaust system. The body kit’s carbon-fiber finish is matched by new exterior mirror caps, which carry a series of fins on top.Mugen says the body kit is currently under development and should become available to purchase at some point in 2026, with prices to be announced later. Several of the parts will also be sold separately, including the wheels and mirror caps.
Mugen is also offering additional performance parts for the Prelude, including upgraded brake pads and a high-performance oil filter. There is also a set of two “performance dampers,” which appear to be mounted directly to the body itself at the front and rear to minimize any flex, reducing “unpleasant vibrations and noise” and leading to better stability, Mugen claims. The interior can also be upgraded with a set of floor mats, a luggage mat for the trunk, and a set of sill plates with a blue stripe and Mugen branding.More on the Prelude
