Lamborghini Fenomeno Builds on the Revuelto's V-12 Madness

  • The Lamborghini Fenomeno is the newest car in the automaker’s long-running “few off” series of limited-production models, following the 2021 Countach.
  • It’s based on the Lamborghini Revuelto, but with an increased focus on improving performance at every opportunity.
  • Keeping with Lamborghini tradition, the Fenomeno gets its name from a famous bull, this time from a bull fight in Morelia, Mexico; only 29 will be built.

Expertise on a subject doesn’t come with broad knowledge spread across a wide purview, but rather by honing in on a more specific area. The same principle applies when building a car. Even the absurdly fast Lamborghini Revuelto, itself mightily focused, is designed with some compromise in mind. Take that same car, focus on the performance, tweak a little here, tinker a little there, and you’re left with the new limited-production Lamborghini Fenomeno. From Revuelto to FenomenoAt its core, the Fenomeno is still a Revuelto, but, like the amps in Spinal Tap, all of the Fenomeno’s dials are turned to 11. The mid-mounted naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V-12 produces 823 horsepower—nine more than the Revuelto. Lamborghini says that makes it the most powerful V-12 the company has ever made. View PhotosLamborghiniThe tri-electric-motor setup from the Revuelto makes its way over too. The trio now makes 241 horsepower, up from 187 in the production model. Lamborghini confirmed to Car and Driver that some of the extra power from the hybrid system comes from a new battery, which grows from a 3.8-kWh gross capacity in the Revuelto to 7.0-kWh gross capacity in the Fenomeno. As a result, the car’s combined power is up. Between the upgrades to the gas engine and the plug-in hybrid system, the Fenomeno makes 1065 horsepower to the Revuelto’s 1001. The extra power translates to more speed, with Lamborghini citing a 2.4-second zero-to-62-mph sprint. However, we think that estimate is a tad conservative, as we hit 60 in 2.2 seconds in the Revuelto. View PhotosLamborghiniStylish but FunctionalEven the styling lends to improved performance. The Fenomeno’s doors are redesigned to direct air towards the side-mounted air intakes, and Lamborghini says they account for a 30 percent improvement in cooling. New appendages frame the front splitter and direct air around the wheels, reducing drag. The front end now features an S-duct—you know, the kind you find on GT3 race cars. It sucks in air at the front of the car and directs it up and over the roof, where it is then pulled into the engine compartment for cooling, or over the rear wing for stability. Lamborghini says that changes to the aerodynamics, primarily from the new hood design, amount to a 30 percent higher aero load at speed. View PhotosLamborghiniUnsurprisingly, given that the Fenomeno is part of Lamborghini’s “few off” series, production is limited. The company will build just 29 examples. Pricing hasn’t yet been announced, and it potentially won’t be publicly released. Still, it’s sure to be considerably higher than the Revuelto’s $608,358 jumping-off point.Related Stories
