Is the 2025 Chevrolet Silverado a better truck than a 2020 Ford F-150?

Teri Lynn recently traded in her 2020 Ford F-150 pickup and purchased a 2025 Chevy Silverado LT Trail Boss. She is wondering if she made the right decision.

She pulls a horse trailer and needs a truck that will do the job, and the Silverado shouldn’t have a problem.

However, with the recent problems GM is experiencing with its trucks, she’s now not so sure it was the right choice.

She says, I just traded my 2020 F-150 for a 2025 Chevy Silverado LT Trail Boss. Now, I just hope I made the right choice.

I love it right now. I haven’t had a Chevy since my first vehicle, a 1994 Silverado 1500.

Did Teri make the right choice?

She asks fellow Silverado and Sierra owners on the 2019 – 2025 Chevy Silverado & GMC Sierra Owners Facebook page.

Of course, they all applaud her for getting rid of the F-150 and getting a Silverado. What else are they going to say?

Here are a few comments from Silverado and Sierra owners.

Ryan Terrell – Came from a Ford F-150 Raptor to my ZR2, and so far, I like it more. I do miss the quickness of the Raptor, though.

Colton Sanderson – Love mine! It tows very nice as well. I have the Trail Boss with the 3.0. I just took the stickers off, haha. It’s been great so far.

Tanner Hines – Traded my 2022 F-150 for a 2025 GMC Sierra, and I love it so far.

With all the problems GM is having with its trucks, will Teri regret buying the 2025 Chevrolet Silverado Trail Boss?

It’s Not All Rainbows and Lollipops in Silverado Land

I recently wrote two stories about 2025 Chevrolet Silverado Trail Boss owners who wish they could go back and do it all over again.

The first Trail Boss owner, Nicholas Gross, just purchased a 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT Trail Boss, thinking it’s a great truck.

However, he is having second thoughts about the purchase. He’s had more problems with it in just a few months than any truck he’s ever had.

He says, venting his frustration,

“Holy freaking gremlins. This truck is a piece of work. In March, I bought a new 2025 Chevy Silverado LT Trail Boss, and I’ve never had this many problems with a truck in such a short amount of time.”

I’ve already had to replace both rear cameras due to moisture damage and the camera harness due to a broken clip. Additionally, I’ve had to replace the door latch because the door wouldn’t open, and I’ve lost all sound in my truck, including turn signals. Now, my CarPlay isn’t working.

For the amount of money we pay for these trucks, I definitely shouldn’t be having these issues.

And another thing, has anyone ever had an issue with water getting inside your backup and hitch cameras?

My Silverado’s cameras on the tailgate are both blurry and full of condensation. I’m going to take it back to the dealer, but I want to know if this is a common issue.

Then It Gets Worse For This Trail Boss Owner

Jim Post purchased a 2025 Chevy Silverado Trail Boss and is having problems with his truck after only 231 miles. He lost power steering and brakes. The dealer has replaced the power steering unit twice, but it has been at the dealer for 38 days and remains unresolved.

He says,

“I have a 2025 2500HD Chevy Silverado Trail Boss, and it lost its power steering and brakes at 231 miles. The brand-new truck has been at the Chevrolet dealer’s service department for 38 days.”

“They replaced the entire power steering system twice, and there are still metal shavings in the power steering fluid. Has anyone else had this issue? It is a 6.6-liter gas engine.”

What is the Problem With GM trucks?

The 2025 Chevrolet Silverado, despite receiving positive reliability ratings from some sources, has faced reports of transmission issues, particularly with the 8-speed automatic transmission, including rough shifting and stalling.

Additionally, some 2025 Duramax trucks have experienced transmission leaks. There are also concerns about potential engine problems, such as lifter failures in V8 engines.

Furthermore, a recall was issued for certain 2019-2025 Chevrolet Silverados due to a risk of brake fluid leak.

Conclusion:

We don’t know about Teri Lynn’s 2020 Ford F-150 pickup, and the problems she had with it. However, for some reason, she went back to owning a Chevrolet Silverado. Did she make the right decision?

Because of the new Silverado issues, she may be kicking herself. Time will tell.

However, it’s important to note that many other owners report no issues with their 2025 Trail Boss trucks, including the power steering.
