- U.K.-based Everrati has unveiled its latest creation, an EV-swapped variant of the 993-generation Porsche 911.
- A Founders Edition model was unveiled during Monterey Car Week earlier this month, and the company says a limited run of nine cars will be built, although more non-Founders models are a possibility later on.
- The 993-generation 911 was the last air-cooled version of the iconic sports car, but these models will have their gas-powered running gear stripped out and replaced with electric motors, making up to 760 horsepower.
Everrati, a U.K.-based specialist in modernizing vintage cars and SUVs with electric powertrains, has unveiled its latest build: an EV-swapped 993-generation Porsche 911. The classic ’90s sports car was the final generation to use an air-cooled horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine, but Everrati’s version drops the gas-burning running gear in favor of a 760-hp electric motor and a battery pack with enough juice for 200 miles of driving per charge. EverratiA Founders Edition version—of which only nine will be built—was unveiled at an event earlier this month during Monterey Car Week. The price hasn’t been disclosed, but given the $450,000 price of the company’s 964-based Porsche 911 model, we expect the 993 to push buyers closer to the $600,000 mark. The new model joins a growing list of classic cars that Everrati offers. In addition to the aforementioned 964 911, Everrati also offers builds of the Land Rover Series IIA, the Mercedes-Benz W113 SL “Pagoda,” and the Superformance Ford GT40.C/D Test DriveAutomotive purists may bristle at the thought of modernizing a beloved classic with an electric powertrain. We admit we were skeptical too, but Everrati allowed us some seat time in the 964 911 model during Car Week, and we walked away impressed by its performance and build quality.Drew Dorian|Car and DriverThe vintage charm is preserved, and at first glance it looks just like a late ’80s Porsche with some tasteful modifications. The Gulf livery of our test car turned heads, and the butterfly appliqués hint at the car’s eco-friendly powertrain. Everrati says they’ve taken great care to make sure the weight is distributed just like the original, and the car feels poised in corners. Acceleration is brisk, and handling is stable, not squirrelly. Drew Dorian|Car and DriverWe didn’t have a ton of time with the car, nor could we strap our instrumented test gear on it for some acceleration runs, but it was enough of a taste for us to see why a certain kind of auto enthusiast would find the Everrati models compelling. Everrati says many of their customers already have a collection that includes gas-powered classics, so to those folks, adding an EV-swapped model to their garage doesn’t feel like blasphemy.
