Dodge and Motor Trend have grown the event called Roadkill Nights into a huge celebration of all things horsepower. Roadkill Nights started as an offshoot of the Woodward Dream Cruise. The Dream Cruise draws more than 40,000 classic vehicles and 1 million spectators to Woodward Avenue, north west of Detroit, to see the vehicles that made the Motor City famous. As Roadkill Nights got more popular, organizers moved it so it would have more room and not conflict with the massive cruise. The 10th edition of MotorTrend Presents Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge is set for Saturday, August 9, in downtown Pontiac, Michigan.
Dodge and Ram Will Reveal New Vehicles
Dodge is promising a public debut of new Dodge vehicles. One of the vehicles expected to be unveiled is the gas-powered version of the Dodge Charger. Friends in the Detroit area tell me that they have seen the SIXPACK-fueled Charger and it is expected to be a big seller. Fans will be able to get Thrill Rides in all-new, next-generation Dodge Charger muscle cars, but Dodge isn’t saying if the Charger SIXPACK with the Hurricane engine will be part of the ride experience.
Ram will also have a display. It is expected to highlight the brand’s Ram 1500 NASCAR concept truck. No word yet on if HEMI-powered Ram trucks will be on display. The HEMI trucks are expected to go into full production in Michigan, any day now. The Raminator Monster Truck and the Bucking HEMI Experience, plus Ram specially built vehicles will also be featured.
Several Celebrities are Scheduled to Attend
Mopar fan and blues rock guitarist Kenny Wayne Shepherd is scheduled to make an appearance and stage a one-of-a-kind performance of national anthem.
Dodge NHRA stars Matt Hagan and Leah Pruett will perform burnouts on Metro Detroit’s Woodward Avenue in 12,000-horspower Dodge drag cars.
Street-legal drag racing will take place on a pristine section of Woodward Avenue near Pike Street, with the return-lane area in front of the grandstands. A walkable pit area brings fans closer to the action, with access to talk with racers and check out their drag cars.
Celebrity appearances include Roadkill’s David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan. David Newbern and Mike Cotten of MotorTrend’s Road Warriors series and automotive/TV personality Cristy Lee are also expected to attend.

The Dodge Direct Connection Grudge Race returns for fifth year with special vehicles. The race pits online automotive builders against one another using engines and parts from Direct Connection.
Midway, Vendors and Food
Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge is scheduled to run from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. ET. The event takes up a lot of territory in downtown Pontiac, bordering Woodward Avenue. There will be street-legal drag racing on historic Woodward Avenue with cash prizes. There is a midway with vendors selling everything from car parts to accessories and t-shirts. There will be plenty of food and drinks available to buy. There will also be music and entertainment and of course a huge car show.
How to Be a Part of the Dodge Roadkill Nights Experience
A variety of ticket packages are available for Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge. Ticket and event information is available at hotrod.com/roadkillnights. Tickets start at $25 for general admission. Pontiac residents with a valid ID can purchase tickets at a discounted rate of $20 at the gate. Children 12 and under receive free admission, and employees presenting a Stellantis ID badge at the gate will also receive free admission, along with free admission for up to one guest. Fans can watch street-legal drag racing on Metro Detroit’s Woodward Avenue via Livestream at YouTube.com/MotorTrend, YouTube.com/Dodge and DodgeGarage.com. The livestream from 4 to 9 p.m. ET, will capture the Big Tire and Small Tire drag-racing action on Woodward Avenue.
