While Detroit has evolved over the years, it will at its heart always be the Motor City. It is the home of Motown and up until recent history been the place where most vehicles were built in America. Woodward Avenue that runs from Detroit through the northwest suburbs is where teens used to cruise back in the 60’s and 70’s. It is also where automotive engineers used to test their latest engine innovations, in other words, race their muscle cars late at night. Dodge built its muscle car reputation there with the HEMI-powered Challengers and Chargers. Dodge will celebrate that high-horsepower heritage with its 10th Annual Roadkill Nights.
“Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge is marking a decade for one reason, and that’s the fans and the Dodge enthusiasts who have come out by the thousands and supported Roadkill Nights since it was a grassroots event in the parking lot of the Silverdome,” said Matt McAlear, Dodge CEO. “Each edition of the event gets bigger and better and, knowing what we have planned, the 10th year will be the best year yet.”
As I have previously reported, Dodge paid tribute to many of the famous Challenger and Charger classics with its “Last Call” HEMI-powered Challengers and Chargers in 2023. While there will be many older vehicles taking part in the festivities, Dodge is expected to highlight its EV muscle car. Dodge’s 2025 Charger Daytona EV is billed as a muscle car with 670-horsepower.
How Dodge is Celebrating
MotorTrend is once again sponsoring the event that is open to the public, whether they bring a muscle car or not. Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge is already gearing up for tire-smoking salute to a decade of sanctioned drag racing on August 9, 2025. The big draw is typically head-to-head drag race action, which allows the average person to race their vehicle against another avid fan. The event that focuses on both old and new cars will feature a Direct Connection Grudge Race, Dodge Thrill Rides in 670-horspower Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack, Dodge vehicle displays and more. Another of the main events is a huge car show.
Dodge is also promising that it will have new Dodge products making their debut at the Dodge brand’s annual horsepower festival.
When and Where the Action Will Take Place
We know when the festival will take place but at this point Dodge is not announcing where. The venue always has room to set up a track so that it can allow drag racing. Drivers have to sign legal liability waivers so that they can drive at their own risk. Roadkill Nights will take place the week before the Dream Cruise, which draws forty thousand classic vehicles and one million spectators to Woodward Avenue.
