New for 2026, Dodge is making a HEMI V-8 standard equipment across the entire Dodge Durango lineup. Previously, Dodge had offered a V-6 engine as well but the excitement for the return of the HEMI engines has convinced Dodge to make the V-8s standard. During festivities this week along the famous Woodward Avenue in northwest Detroit, Dodge announced that there will be a special 2026 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat model. The supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V-8 makes the Durango the most powerful gas-powered SUV ever built.
“Dodge Durango is on a tear, with Q2 U.S. sales surging more than 50% over Q1 and topping the upper midsize SUV segment in the J.D. Power 2025 U.S. APEAL Study,” said Matt McAlear, Dodge CEO. “We’re harnessing that momentum to do what Dodge does best: bring more horsepower to the masses. Starting with orders placed on August 13, every Durango will come standard with a HEMI V-8. It’s another Dodge power move that delivers the ‘affordable performance’ our Dodge customers demand and deserve.”
2026 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat
The most powerful version for the Durango for 2026 will have 710 horsepower and 645 lb.-ft. of torque from its supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V-8 engine. It does 0–60 mph in just 3.5 seconds, and will do a quarter-mile in 11.5 seconds and a top speed of 180 mph. The Dodge Durango Hellcat starts at a MSRP of $79,995, delivering incredible performance.
2026 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat Jailbreak Edition
A jailbreak edition gives the buyer the power to unlock special options. Buyers can choose special color combinations for both the exterior and interior. Plus, the customization comes straight from the factory and covered by the factory warranty.
The new 2026 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat Jailbreak offers more than six million potential customization combinations. Customers can select from six different wheel options, six available factory exterior colors and six exterior badge color choices. There are five different seat colors with three different seating configurations. Additionally, the buyer can choose from five dual-stripe options, four brake caliper colors and seat belt colors.
The jailbreak customization package costs an additional MSRP of $995. Some choices may cost more.
2026 Dodge Durango GT
The 2026 Dodge Durango GT now features the legendary 5.7-liter HEMI V-8. The GT will have 360 horsepower and 390 lb.-ft. of torque. The new V-8 has 65 more horsepower than the previous V-6-powered model. It will also be quicker, 0-60 mph time improves by more than one second from 7.4 to 6.2 seconds. The GT starts at a U.S. MSRP of $42,495, plus $1,995 destination fees. The Durango GT becomes the most affordable AWD V-8 vehicle in the industry.

2026 Dodge Durango R/T
For the first time, the Dodge Durango R/T will be available with the 392 HEMI V-8, delivering 475 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque. The 392 HEMI gives a 115-horsepower increase over the previous 5.7-liter HEMI-powered R/T. The Durango R/T will have the most available horsepower in the industry for under $50,000.
All 2026 Dodge Durango models deliver best-in-class towing of up to 8,700 pounds.
Dealer orders for Durango GT and SRT Hellcat are open now. Vehicles should start arriving in dealerships in Q4. Orders for the Durango R/T AWD will open later this year.
YES, It’s Got a HEMI in It!
Dodge is taking advantage of all the HEMI hype and giving customers what they want. There was nothing wrong with the previous V-6, but this gives Dodge the opportunity to streamline the assembly process and create profits that the company desperately needs. Eventually, a future political regime may bring back strict fuel economy standards, but Dodge is focusing on customer satisfaction and the bottom line, right now.
