Hady Alkassab, a Cybertruck owner from Canada, says he was left scratching his head after his glass roof shattered seemingly out of nowhere.
Hady says he was out apple picking with his daughter, and he parked his Cybertruck in the open field without any trees or structures above it.
However, when he returned, he found large cracks all over his Cybertruck’s glass roof.
Hady’s initial thought was that it might be an act of vandalism, but he adds that the truck’s alarm system and Sentry camera were not triggered.
This situation is definitely unusual, and the confused Cybertruck owner shared his story on the Cybertruck Canada Facebook group.
He writes:
“Has anyone had the glass roof replaced, found defective, or shattered?
I went apple picking with my daughter this afternoon—parked in the open (no trees overhead)—and came back to a shattered glass roof!
Sentry cameras didn’t pick up anything. I find it strange and curious—has anyone else experienced something similar?”
Below his post, Hady shared two pictures, one showing the interior view of the glass roof and the other showing it from outside.
As you can see, there are several crack lines on the glass roof, and the cracks don’t appear to originate from a single point but are scattered all over.
This situation is definitely not ideal; however, looking at the comments, fellow Cybertruck owners had multiple theories about what might have happened.
A fellow Cybertruck owner, Borth Nilly, asks:
“Was it a bullet?”
Another Cybertruck owner, Richard Lah, asks:
“Did you have your glass roof aftermarket tinted?”
Here, Richard is alluding to reports from other Cybertruck owners who added aftermarket tint to their glass roofs and have had spontaneous cracking issues.

Back in 2024, we were the first publication to report that several Cybertruck owners were facing cracked glass roofs after installing aftermarket tint.
The theory is that the tint, designed to reflect heat away from the cabin by absorbing the sun’s rays, heats up and causes thermal expansion, which in turn puts stress on the glass roof and leads to fractures.
However, when asked whether he had tinted his glass roof, Hady said he hadn’t.
He writes…
“I did not. This is the original factory glass that came with it. I’m reading online that some Cybertruck owners have experienced spontaneous breaking due to heat.”
This is good news for Hady because Tesla appears to be denying warranty claims for cracked Cybertruck glass roofs with aftermarket tints.
In this case, Jessie Lachapelle, a Tesla Model 3 owner, shares his experience:
“I had a stress crack on my Tesla Model 3 windshield.
Make a service appointment describing the issue, and Tesla will review and inspect it. If there’s no sign of impact, it should be covered under warranty.”
Hady hopes Tesla accepts fault and covers his glass roof repair under warranty; otherwise, he’ll face a $3,700 bill.
He writes:
“I’m seeing online that a few people have had some issues with stress cracks and heat.
However, there’s no way to prove it, and I don’t see any impact marks. Hopefully, Tesla will own the issue and cover it under warranty.
Otherwise, the cost is estimated to be $3700 or, more likely, an insurance claim.”
Paying $3,700 for a spontaneous glass roof crack would definitely be frustrating; however, please share your thoughts in the comments.
