Robert Silvers, a Cybertruck owner from Massachusetts, says that his 15-year-old daughter prefers not to be picked up from school in his Cybertruck.
Her main concern is avoiding the unwanted attention that can come with driving the all-electric truck.
Nevertheless, Robert recently decided to take a chance and pick her up from school in the Cybertruck anyway.
Sadly, as she had feared, on their drive home, a car pulled up next to them and the driver flipped them off.
This is definitely not ideal, and the disappointed Cybertruck owner shared his story on the Cybertruck Owners Only Facebook group.
He writes…
“My daughter doesn’t let me pick her up at school in the Cybertruck because she’s worried about what others think.
Today, for the first time, I did it anyway. On the way home, a Hyundai driver gave us the finger. She’s 15.”
Below his post, Robert shared a video of the incident recorded by his Cybertruck’s sentry cameras.
The video shows a Hyundai Santa Fe driver coming up next to them and hurling insults at them as he passed.
This is definitely concerning even if Robert was driving alone; however, it’s even worse with his 15-year-old daughter in the passenger seat.
Given this incident, Robert seems conflicted about driving his daughter in a Cybertruck; however, looking at the comments, fellow Cybertruck owners criticized Robert for letting his 15-year-old daughter dictate the car he drives.
A fellow Cybertruck owner, Darby Walker, writes…
“Why do you care what your daughter says? She’s young and lives with you.
If you want to pick her up in a Cybertruck, then she isn’t allowed to complain or say anything.
I’m surprised it took you so long to just do it anyway.”
Another Cybertruck owner, Steve Vandeman, writes…
“Imagine your teenage kid telling you what to drive.”
A third Cybertruck owner, Dominic Black, writes…
“Guess you forgot to teach her not to care about other people’s opinions when you raised her.”
A fourth Cybertruck owner, Vikki Carine Salazar, writes…

“I have the same issue. My daughter complains that she gets bullied because of our Cybertruck in high school.
I’m trying to explain to her why it shouldn’t bother her or make her feel ashamed of the car her mom drives. None of the teens could even dream of owning a Cybertruck, even if they wanted to.
Additionally, I explained how hard I worked to get where I am, and she shouldn’t be ashamed or bothered by what others think of my car.
I also have a custom plate, so they call her Cyber Wolf—which I think is pretty badass.”
A fifth Cybertruck owner, Da’Quon Hillery, writes…
“I think it’s a great opportunity to teach her how to hold strong beliefs while still maintaining civilized behavior.”
A sixth Cybertruck owner, Kara Schurer Zammerilli, writes…
“We have a Cybertruck and a Tesla Model 3. I have the same issue with my daughter as well. If only she understood how liberating it is to stop worrying about what others think. It’s always a certain type of loser who flips us off.”
A seventh Cybertruck owner, Brad Fortner, writes…
“If my daughter told me she didn’t want to be picked up in whatever vehicle I was driving, I would tell her, ‘Fine, then walk home.’”
A lot of Cybertruck owners appear to believe it’s not acceptable for their children to stop them from driving the all-electric truck. However, on the other hand, some Cybertruck owners praised Robert for respecting his daughter’s wishes.
A fellow Cybertruck owner, Jennifer Trismen, writes…
“I think it’s really sweet that you appreciated your daughter‘s wishes, and she will remember that.”
Another Cybertruck owner, Jordan Perry, writes…
“Your daughter has a realistic view of the world and how others may react.”
A third Cybertruck owner, Errick Crum, writes…
“Your daughter’s reaction is totally age-appropriate—15 is peak ‘don’t embarrass me’ mode. But your decision to show up anyway? That’s a quiet flex. You’re modeling confidence, showing her that standing out isn’t something to fear. And the Hyundai driver? That’s just background noise in the story of her learning to own who she is.”
Overall, looking at the comments, it seems that children feel a little uneasy being seen in a Cybertruck.
