Andrew Elsbury, a Cybertruck owner from Virginia, says he couldn’t believe what he saw when he went to pick up his Cybertruck from Tesla service.
When he opened his truck’s door, he saw a homeless man sleeping inside the vehicle.
Since there were no signs of forced entry, Andrew believes that Tesla Service left the truck unlocked, and the homeless man simply got in and spent the night there.
This is bad enough; however, Andrew adds that the man was drinking alcohol and doing other things in his truck.
To add insult to injury, Andrew shares that the homeless man also peed inside the Cybertruck, and now the inside of his truck smells like urine.
Upset, Andrew says he wants Tesla to give him a new truck.
The frustrated Cybertruck owner shared his story on the Cybertruck Owners Only group on Facebook.
He writes…
“I went to pick up my Cybertruck from Tesla service for the fourth time to fix a rattle and other issues.
When I arrived at the Tesla service center, I found a homeless person had slept in the truck overnight.
He’d been drinking and possibly used other substances in the truck. Tesla had left the truck unlocked.
I’m beyond upset and unsure if I should ask them to exchange it. He peed in the car, so I doubt there’s any way to get that smell out.”
Below his post, Andrew included two pictures. The first picture shows the homeless man walking away from Andrew’s Cybertruck.
In his right hand, the homeless man is holding what appears to be beer in a plastic cup, and he’s carrying a bag and his belongings with his other hand.
In the second picture, Andrew shows the inside of his Cybertruck, which looks messy after the homeless man slept inside it.
This is definitely not ideal, and looking at the comments, fellow Cybertruck owners had wildly differing takes.
A fellow Cybertruck owner, Alan Devincentis, attacked the truthfulness of Andrew’s story writing…
“A $100,000 truck was left unlocked in a parking lot at a Tesla dealership. I don’t believe that for a second.”
However, in response, other Cybertruck owners pushed back, citing their own experiences at a Tesla service center.
A fellow Cybertruck owner, Nicholas Villalba, writes…

“That doesn’t surprise me. I picked up my Cybertruck from the service center yesterday and almost got into the wrong truck.
I opened the door and saw someone else’s belongings on the passenger seat, and I immediately realized it wasn’t mine.
I was just shocked that any cars would be left unlocked.”
Another Cybertruck owner, Daniel Rosua, writes…
“Very believable. Just a heads-up: service mode doesn’t let you lock the vehicle remotely or even check if it’s locked.
I’ve had multiple issues with my service center leaving my truck unlocked. I’ve complained about it, but they still forget to lock it.
I always drive to the service center and verify my truck is locked — very frustrating.”
This is definitely not ideal; however, now that a homeless person has urinated on the truck, Cybertruck owners also disagreed on what Andrew should do next.
A few Cybertruck owners said Tesla should definitely give Andrew a brand-new truck.
A fellow Cybertruck owner, Dalton Doyle, writes…
“I would be livid! I would go in and make a fuss with Tesla and call the cops on the homeless man.
That may seem harsh, but just because he’s homeless doesn’t mean he has the right to get into someone else’s vehicle.
Plus, he peed in there, which is disgusting, rude, and probably a biohazard of some kind.
I know I wouldn’t clean it up, and even if it were cleaned, I probably wouldn’t accept the truck.
Tesla can get me a new one!”
Another Cybertruck owner agrees with this sentiment, writing…
“What? He peed in your car. Sue if Tesla doesn’t give you another Cybertruck.”
A lot of Cybertruck owners shared their belief that Tesla owes Andrew a new truck; however, others argue that Tesla is only required to clean the Cybertruck.
