Mariana Silva, a Cybertruck owner from Massachusetts, reports that a stranger pointed a gun at her while she was driving her Cybertruck on the highway.
Mariana states the incident occurred in Nashua, New Hampshire, and believes there was no other motive besides anti-Cybertruck sentiment.
She adds that she immediately called 911, and law enforcement caught the suspect before he could escape.
Understandably shaken, Mariana shared her story on the Cybertruck Owners Only group on Facebook.
She writes…
“Urgent! Someone just pointed a gun at me while I was driving on the highway. I called 911, and I’m here with an officer.
They managed to stop the car, and the guy is getting arrested. The police are asking me to provide footage from our camera. How do I get it?
I’m still shaking from this. Not tech-savvy.”
This is definitely troubling, and after a while, Mariana came back with an update.
She reports that the police discovered a gun in the suspect’s car, and the perpetrator will likely face jail time.
However, to build a stronger case against the attacker, the police were hoping to obtain the security camera footage from her Cybertruck.
Regrettably, when the incident occurred, Mariana was understandably shaken and didn’t save the video to a thumb drive.
Since Mariana didn’t set her Cybertruck to save the footage, the video was automatically overwritten after 10 minutes.
Now, Mariana says she reached out to Tesla, but even the EV maker couldn’t retrieve the footage.
She continues…
“Update: Yes, they found the firearm in his car, and he was arrested. Regretfully, I went to Tesla, and they couldn’t retrieve the video.
My settings were “ON” for recording while parking and “AUTO” while driving, but since it wasn’t ‘risky driving,’ it did not record.”
Mariana continues to share; without this important piece of evidence, the perpetrator might walk free.

In that case, she’s worried that the same person might target her again and says she’s relatively easy to identify because she drives the only black-wrapped Cybertruck in her area.
If that wasn’t enough of a concern, Mariana adds that she has a sticker over her Cybertruck advertising her real estate business.
Mariana writes…
“The trooper said the guy is likely going to be released on bail until his formal hearing, which should be around December.
That’s not good, I own the only black Cybertruck in the area, and it has my logo on it.”
Finally, Mariana ends her post by expressing hope that spending the weekend in jail might encourage the suspect to behave better in public.
Having said that, she also fears that jail time could potentially trigger the perpetrator even more.
She writes…
“These three days in jail will either make this guy learn a lesson or make him even crazier.
Needless to say, I’ve set my cameras to record all the time. You all should do the same. So much hate and crazy people out there!
Nashua, New Hampshire.”
This is definitely concerning, and looking at the comments, a number of Tesla owners tried to help Mariana recover the footage.
Fellow Cybertruck owners even shared videos demonstrating how to access the Dashcam app on the Cybertruck’s center touchscreen and view all the recorded videos.
However, since the incident wasn’t marked as a road “incident” by the Cybertruck, and Mariana didn’t manually save the footage, she says the video is lost forever.
Mariana writes…
“Thank you! But even Tesla tried, but they could not find the footage.”
