A Tesla Cybertruck Buyer Says He Rejected a Cybertruck Delivery for the Second Time Due to Quality Issues – However, He Adds “There is Nothing in the Market I Want to Drive Other Than a Cybertruck”

A Cybertruck buyer from Dallas, Texas, says he rejected delivery of a second Cybertruck because of quality defects.
The Cybertruck buyer who goes by the username PlayerPiano on the Cybertruck Owner Club forum states that he’s a huge fan of the all-electric Tesla truck.
Additionally, the Cybertruck buyer states that no other vehicle on the market can meet all his needs like the Cybertruck does.
However, despite his enthusiasm to purchase a Cybertruck, PlayerPiano notes that Tesla has failed to give him a problem-free truck.
Lured by all the free benefits, including lifetime unlimited Supercharger access, PlayerPiano says he’s looking to buy a Foundation Series Cybertruck.
These are the early, fully loaded Cybertruck variants that Tesla manufactured before November 2024.
Tesla was not able to sell all Foundation Series Cybertrucks before discontinuing the program, which means the EV manufacturer now has to heavily discount the trucks to clear the unsold inventory.
After Tesla tried to sell him a second problem-ridden Foundation Series Cybertruck, PlayerPiano states that he is considering whether it might be better to simply order a brand-new Cybertruck.
PlayerPiano hopes that Cybertruck production quality has improved on the 2025 VIN trucks.
The frustrated Cybertruck buyer shared his experience under the title “the second time is not the charm.”
He writes…

“I attempted for the second time to take delivery of a Cybertruck, this time for a 37xxx VIN Foundation Series with all the incentives.
There were some cosmetic issues present at delivery (cantrail fitment and panel scratch, inner door oxidation) that I was willing to overlook, but a nasty dash rattle surfaced before I even left the lot.
The dash rattle has been a pretty common complaint, but I didn’t want to take delivery until that issue is addressed.
I will decide on my next steps after they fix it, but I’m pretty bummed. There’s nothing else on the market that checks the boxes the Cybertruck does, but I’m struggling to get one delivered without issues.
I love the Foundation Series incentives, but I guess I could revert to a 2025 model if that really improves reliability.
Lexus GX550 is the only internal combustion car that is remotely interesting as a substitute for the Cybertruck; the Tesla Model Y is my next choice among electric vehicles, and I don’t really like or trust the Rivians.
Thoughts? Is the dash rattle remedy pretty straightforward? Does it recur? I’m really trying to avoid a service center queen Cybertruck.”

Looking at the comments, several other Cybertruck owners downplayed the rattle issues and shared that they, too, have purchased Cybertrucks with rattling dashboards and that it’s not a big deal.
A fellow Cybertruck owner from Florida says…

“Mine has a little dash rattle, but I just don’t care. I only hear it sometimes, and usually I’m playing music anyway. I really only notice if I think about it or try to hear it.”

A second Cybertruck owner from Colorado agrees with this sentiment, writing…

“I have a dash rattle because the steering wheel is fully extended. It’s a piece of trim that barely touches the wheel at full length, causing the rattle. I placed a small piece of rubber gasket between the two and had forgotten about it until this post.”

However, PlayerPiano states that the rattle in his Cybertruck was so significant that even the Tesla sales representative concurred with his decision to reject the delivery.
PlayerPiano writes…

“This rattle was VERY noticeable….the Tesla technician didn’t even try to argue/downplay it. Interestingly, it was at full wheel extension, so maybe that’s the issue.”

Overall, most current Cybertruck buyers seem to believe a rattle is not a big deal; however, Player Piano states he doesn’t want to take delivery of a new truck even if it has a minor issue.
