Shahab Rahimi, a Cybertruck owner from California, claims that Tesla might be intentionally interfering with his charging sessions to prevent him from fully utilizing his free Supercharger access.
Shahab shares that he owns a fairly new six-month-old Cybertruck, which comes with free supercharger access. However, he’s been experiencing several charging issues and has had to visit Tesla’s service center multiple times.
What leads Shahab to suspect Tesla might be involved is the unusual nature of these charging issues.
He explains that he’s been making the most of his truck’s free supercharger access by charging exclusively at Tesla superchargers.
However, each time he plugs in, he notices that his truck unexpectedly stops charging midway through a session.
Sometimes, the charging pauses temporarily and then resumes on its own; at other times, it can only continue charging after switching to a different stall.
This alone is unusual; additionally, Shahab mentions that despite multiple visits to a Tesla service center, he has not found any solution to his charging problem.
Given these circumstances, Shahab believes Tesla is deliberately tampering with his truck so he doesn’t charge for free too often.
The frustrated Cybertruck owner shared his story on the Cybertruck Owners Only group on Facebook.
He writes…
“In the past six months, I’ve had to bring my Foundation Series Cybertruck back to the dealer multiple times due to charging port problems.
Supercharging repeatedly cuts off mid-charge. Sometimes I have to switch stalls, and other times it randomly resumes charging — but it’s a constant headache.
This is unacceptable for a brand-new truck at this price point. Has anyone else experienced the same issue?
Honestly, I’m starting to think Tesla might be doing this on purpose because I have free Supercharging access and only charge at superchargers.”
This is definitely not ideal; however, looking at the comments, fellow Cybertruck owners had varied responses.
Some Cybertruck owners reported that they can use superchargers for free without issues, whereas others with free access shared their suspicion that Tesla might be deliberately disrupting their charging sessions.
A fellow Cybertruck owner, Matthew Ballew, writes…
“I haven’t experienced the same issue, and mine came with 3 years of free supercharging.
If you’ve visited the service center four or more times for the same issue and it remains unresolved, you may be eligible for a buyback, and you could consider purchasing a new Cybertruck.

However, that depends on whether Tesla employees acknowledge your issue or dismiss it. If they claim there’s no problem, it’s a tougher case to fight for a buyback.”
Another Cybertruck owner, Steven Michael, reports that he has experienced numerous issues with his truck, but none related to the charging system.
Steven writes…
“No issues with charging, just everything else.”
A third Cybertruck owner, Stephen Pales, suggests that maybe Tesla is not intentionally throttling Sahahab’s supercharger access, but rather it’s a one-off manufacturing defect.
Stephen writes…
“I have no issues with the free supercharger on my Cybertruck. I’ve driven 20,000 miles since April of this year across the country. I keep bringing it back to the supercharger.
Out of thousands produced, a few may be defective due to manufacturing defects or careless work by employees. No different than any other car manufacturer.”
These are the Cybertruck owners who claim they have not experienced any issues charging their trucks for free; however, a few Cybertruck owners report facing similar issues to Shahab.
A fellow Cybertruck owner, Andrew Jalal, writes…
“Honestly, that has been happening to me also. It just cuts off mid charge, and I have to change stalls to get it to start again. I also had the charger get stuck one time and had to eject it from the bed manually.”
Another Cybertruck owner, Norman Serrano, says the frequent charging interruptions are also happening to him and notes that Cybertruck owners who claim this issue doesn’t exist are those who don’t use the supercharger too often.
Norman writes…
“There are two distinct groups providing feedback here. One group rarely uses the supercharger network, and the other, with unlimited supercharging, quickly notices that this cutoff/error at the supercharger is happening to their Cybertruck.
I regularly supercharge my vehicle and even took an RV trailer trip, during which I encountered this issue at my usual charging spot and on the interstate supercharger network.”
Cybertruck owners appear to be divided on whether Tesla is intentionally disrupting charging sessions for those with free Supercharger access; however, please let me know what you think in the comments.
