Daniel Coppens, a Cybertruck owner from Florida, says it’s been less than 24 hours since he bought his Cybertruck, but the entire left side of the vehicle has already stopped working.
Daniel explains he purchased a brand-new Cybertruck with only five miles on the odometer. He drove it two hours from the Tesla delivery center to his home, and he says everything was working perfectly so far.
He parked his new Cybertruck, went to bed, and when he woke up, he saw that his truck needed a software update. He started the update and left for work without the vehicle.
Not driving your truck to work because it needs a software update is already strange; however, Daniel was not worried about this.
When he returned from work, he didn’t think much of it and turned on his Cybertruck, but that’s when he noticed the passenger side side-view mirror did not automatically unfold.
This was the first sign of trouble. After investigating a bit, Daniel realized it was not only the side mirror but everything on the left side of his truck was not working.
The windows wouldn’t roll down, the passenger side doors wouldn’t open, and the ambient light didn’t turn on.
This is definitely not ideal for a vehicle that was only driven once from the delivery center to his house.
Daniel then contacted Tesla service by phone. After spending 30 minutes talking to a Tesla technician, he reset the Cybertruck.
The Tesla technicians probably thought the issue was related to the recent software update; however, even after resetting the vehicle, Daniel says the left side of the Cybertruck still did not work.
This is already bad enough. However, Daniel says he tried to book a service appointment for his new truck, and Tesla scheduled one more than a month in the future.
Daniel says this is unacceptable, and the frustrated Cybertruck owner shared his story on the Cybertruck Owners Only group on Facebook.
He writes…
“Not a great start to my ownership experience. I brought my new Cybertruck home, which had only 5 miles on it.
The two-hour drive home was perfect. I parked it, and it asked for an update, so I left it at home the next morning.
When I got home last night, I noticed that the passenger-side mirror wouldn’t unfold.
Then I realized that nothing on the passenger side works — I can’t open the door from outside, roll down the window, or use the ambient lights.
After 30 minutes on the phone with Tesla service, I rebooted the truck, but it still didn’t work.

Suddenly, while I was driving, the passenger side started working again, then stopped 15 minutes later.
After another 30 minutes, it started again. I scheduled a service appointment, but it’s over a month away.
This is unacceptable! Has anyone experienced or heard of this issue?”
This is definitely not ideal; however, looking at the comments, fellow Cybertruck owners had varying opinions about the issue.
Some Cybertruck owners shared that they have experienced similar failures and offered their guesses as to what’s going on.
On the other hand, other Cybertruck owners defended Tesla and the Cybertruck, saying this is not a big deal.
A fellow Cybertruck owner, Steve Hischar from Florida, writes…
“Sometimes things just go bad. It’s no one’s fault. Let Tesla fix it.
It can be frustrating for sure, but I wouldn’t call it unacceptable, because no matter how perfect something can be (Tesla is far from it), sometimes things just go wrong. Tesla should fix it, though.”
Another Cybertruck owner, Tony Bigley from Southern California, writes…
“Frustrating, but all cars have problems…I’m assuming that’s sometimes more with these being all electric? Get Tesla to give you a Cybertruck loaner or a sweet Model X plaid.”
A third Cybertruck owner, Tim Rich, defended Tesla, saying it’s been six months since he bought his Cybertruck, and he hasn’t experienced any issues.
Tim writes…
“We took delivery of the Cybertruck on February 28th, and have yet to experience a single issue that needed fixing.”
Overall, looking at the comments, most Cybertruck owners came to Tesla’s defense. However, please let me know what you think in the comments.
