Overview Mitsubishi is readying a new electric SUV that we think will revive the Lancer nameplate. The new EV will be a version of the upcoming Nissan Leaf electric crossover, and it’s expected to be ready to hit the market in late 2026. Given what we know about the new Leaf, we expect to see a driving range of around 300 miles per charge and a single-motor powertrain that provides front-wheel drive. All we’ve seen so far is a shadowy teaser image. We may be surprised with a different name entirely when the production version eventually debuts, but recent trademark filings give us more than a hunch that it will be called Lancer. What’s New for 2027?The Lancer—if it truly is called that—will be an all-new vehicle for the Mitsubishi lineup when it eventually goes on sale. We suspect its late-2026 launch will make it a 2027 model year.Pricing and Which One to BuyThe price of the 2027 Mitsubishi Lancer is expected to start around $35,000 and go up to $41,000 depending on the trim and options.ES$35,000 (est)SE$39,000 (est)SEL$41,000 (est)Mitsubishi has merely confirmed the plan for an electric SUV in its lineup, so it’s too early to know for sure how much the Lancer will cost or what trim levels will be offered. We suspect it will be similarly priced to the Leaf, and it may follow Mitsubishi’s normal trim structure of ES, SE, and SEL trims.More on the Lancer SUVAs more information becomes available, we’ll update this story with more details about:
