2027 Ferrari 849 Testarossa

09/09/2025

Overview Ferrari’s next supercar takes a historic name—Testarossa—and pins it on a fully up-to-the-moment supercar powered by a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Say what you want about hybrids and Ferraris, but the 849 Testarossa’s 1036 horsepower output speaks for itself. The new car wears styling that’s inspired by the 1980s legend, but with a modern twist that incorporates elements from Ferrari’s latest supercars. Coupe and Spider convertible body styles are offered, the latter of which features a power hardtop roof with a built-in glass wind deflector to help calm cabin breezes when the top is down. The interior blends luxury and high-performance elements, with seating for two on racy sport seats, a slim display for the passenger integrated into the dashboard, and a large, round tachometer in the center of the instrument cluster.Expert Tip: If you’d prefer the wail of a naturally-aspirated V-12 engine in your (new) Ferrari, consider the 12Cilindri. What’s New for 2027?The 849 Testarossa is a new model for Ferrari for 2027, and it replaces the SF90 in the Italian automaker’s portfolio. What’s Your Car Worth?Car and Driver calculates your car’s value in three free and easy steps – using the same Black Book® data dealers use to appraise vehicles.Get your trade-in valuePricing and Which One to BuyWho wouldn’t want the option of open-air motoring? Go for the Spider convertible. You might as well, because at this price, what’s an extra few thousand bucks?Engine, Transmission, and Performance

  • Hybrid Powertrain: Twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 and three electric motors, 1036 horsepower combined
  • Transmission: 8-speed dual-clutch automatic
  • Drivetrain: all-wheel drive

The twin-turbo V-8 is mounted behind the 849’s passenger compartment. It makes a stout 819 horsepower on its own, but it’s augmented by a total of three electric motors to boost combined output to 1036 horses. That’s more power than the SF90 made, so the 849 could even be a little quicker—and that’s saying something, as the SF hit 60 mph in 2.0 seconds in our testing. When we get the chance to test and 849 for ourselves, we’ll update this story with results. The Assetto Fiorano variants feature additional carbon fiber elements to save weight. Ferrari says these models are roughly 66 pounds lighter than the standard models and can be identified by a different rear wing design. They also feature a stiffer suspension setup and Michelin Cup2 track tires.0–60-MPH Times

  • Claimed 60-mph Time: 2.3 seconds (manufacturer estimate)

In Comparison: When we tested the SF90 Stradale, we managed to hit 60 mph in 2.0 seconds. The 849’s extra power should give it an advantage.Additional ResearchRange, Charging, and Battery Life

  • Claimed EV Range: 16 miles

The battery pack is a small one at just 6.5 kWh, but Ferrari says the 849 can drive up to 16 miles on electricity alone before the V-8 fires up. No charging times have been given, but we doubt that matters to potential buyers.Interior, Comfort, and CargoFirst Row: There’s room for just two riders in the 849 Testarossa, but both are treated to a high-end cabin with a sporty, driver-centric design. The pair of sport seats looks to be both comfortable and supportive, and most everything is controlled by steering wheel switches rather than a large central touchscreen.Cargo Capacity: A small front trunk is available for storage, but don’t expect the 849 to be a road-trip hero, as its cargo space amounts to only 2.6 cubic feet. Interior cubby storage is also at a premium, but there’s a decent-sized area under the center console that can fit a smartphone, wallets, or small handbags.Infotainment and Connectivity

  • Infotainment: digital gauge display, passenger display
  • Connectivity: Bluetooth, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Audio System: 6-speaker stereo

Bucking current trends, there’s no large central infotainment touchscreen on the 849 Testarossa. Instead, all infotainment features are accessed via the driver’s digital gauge display or through a slim passenger’s display that’s incorporated into the dashboard on the right side. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included as standard.Safety and Driver-Assistance FeaturesDespite its driver-centric ethos, Ferrari does offer several standard driver-assistance features on the 849, including adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist.

  • Standard Safety Features: automated emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist

For information about the 849 Testarossa crash-test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites.Warranty and Maintenance CoverageThe 849 Testarossa is covered by a three-year warranty with no mileage limit. Ferrari also offers a seven-year maintenance program that covers all regular maintenance over that period, at either yearly intervals or once every roughly 12,500 miles.

  • Limited Warranty: three years or unlimited miles
  • Powertrain Warranty: three years or unlimited miles
  • Complimentary Maintenance: seven years or unlimited miles

As more information becomes available, we’ll update this story with more details about:

  • Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
  • C/D Test Results and Specs
