- Subaru claims a max range of “more than 260 miles.”

Subaru’s first foray into the EV space, the Solterra, introduced in 2023, hasn’t been a raging success. Nevertheless, Subaru is rolling out a second EV, the Trailseeker. The Trailseeker is obviously based on the Solterra (which itself is a rebadged Toyota bZ4X), but this new EV seems like a better fit with the rest of the Subaru family.Whereas the Solterra has a four-door hatchback shape, the Trailseeker’s profile is much more SUV-like. Compared to the Solterra, the Trailseeker is longer by some six inches, with the extra length coming aft of the rear axle. It’s also taller, and standard roof rails help burnish its SUV image. It fits right in with Subaru’s volume sellers, the Outback and the Forester.

Like the Solterra, the Trailseeker’s AWD system includes driving modes for Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud; there’s also hill-descent control and 8.3 inches of ground clearance. Output is “approximately 375 horsepower,” enough for a 4.3-second zero-to-60 time, according to Subaru. The Trailseeker also can tow up to 3500 pounds. Range is estimated at 260 miles, which is slightly less than the figure given for the ’26 Solterra (285 miles), likely due to the larger Trailseeker’s extra weight. A standard NACS charge port allows for recharging at Tesla Supercharger stations, and the max recharging rate is 150-kW.Courtesy of SubaruThe interior design and layout mirrors that of the Solterra, although the Trailseeker has more cargo space. The center touchscreen measures 14 inches and offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while a smaller screen near the base of the windshield serves as the instrument cluster. Dual wireless smartphone charging pads are located side-by-side on the center console.Courtesy of SubaruPricing has not been released yet.
