Nissan is exploring third-party options to create a more specialized off-roading approach for its 2026 Frontier mid-size pickup. To that end, Nissan teamed up with Roush Performance to build on the Frontier’s somewhat basic approach. The result of the collaboration is a Roush edition of the Frontier’s PRO-4X trim, cleverly named the PRO-4X R. NissanPerformance upgrades for the PRO-4X R are centered around an Öhlins 2.0-inch suspension lift and 2.0-inch shocks. Roush worked with Öhlins to tune the setup specifically for the Frontier. They’ve got aluminum construction and use external gas reservoirs along with a set of rear cooling fans to keep them from overheating in harsh driving conditions. NissanNissanIn terms of visual changes, the Roush Frontier has titanium-painted front grille inserts, a titanium-painted skid plate and front lower fascia, and Roush “R” badging on the grille, fenders, and tailgate. The 17-inch wheels also get a titanium finish and feature black lug nuts along with “R” badges for the center caps. Inside, the Roush logo is embroidered into the front-seat headrests. Unlike your typical dealer-installed options, the Frontier’s PRO-4X parts are sold exclusively by Roush. The kit tacks an additional $4395 onto the price of the PRO-4X trim, bringing the total cost for the Roush Frontier to $47,960.
