Overview Land Rover built its brand on creating luxury SUVs that can go anywhere, but its smallest model—the 2026 Range Rover Evoque—is built different. With a turbocharged four-cylinder engine and standard all-wheel drive, the Evoque is ready to tackle city streets, gravel roads, and snowy driveways, but it lacks the low-range gearing and terrain-specific drive modes that more serious off-roaders in the Land Rover family offer. Instead, it distills the Range Rover luxury experience down to an urban-friendly package and turns heads with its fashionable exterior styling. Its minimalist interior is chic and tech-focused, but there’s less room for people and cargo inside than rivals such as the BMW X1 and the Volvo XC40. What’s New for 2026?Land Rover has made no changes to the Evoque for 2026. Even the SUV’s starting price tag is the same this year as it was last year.Pricing and Which One to BuyThe price of the 2026 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque starts at $51,175 and goes up to $56,375 depending on the trim and options. We’d go with the Dynamic SE model, as it adds features such as a power liftgate, a 12-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, LED headlights, and blind-spot monitoring. We’d also fork over the extra cash for the Technology package, which adds a head-up display and a 360-degree exterior camera system.Engine, Transmission, and Performance The Evoque is powered by a 246-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder dubbed P250, and it comes standard with a nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. On the road, there’s no mistaking the Evoque for a hatchback car. It feels substantial, and the seat height is SUV-appropriate. It adequately handles corners but won’t satisfy enthusiast drivers in the same way as the BMW X1 or the Mercedes-Benz GLA-class.0–60-MPH TimesAt our test track, the Evoque delivered a 7.1-second 60-mph run when we tested it back in 2020 and, given that the powertrain hasn’t changed since that test, we reckon the result still is relevant to the 2025 model. Rivals such as the X1 and the XC40 have both delivered slightly quicker times, but the Range Rover is still competitively lively.More on the Evoque SUVTowing and Payload CapacityThe Evoque can tow up to 3968 pounds, which is slightly more than rivals from BMW and Volvo can do.Fuel Economy and Real-World MPGThe EPA estimates that the Evoque should deliver 20 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. In our 75-mph fuel-economy test, a P250 returned a rather dismal 24 mpg. For more information about the Evoque’s fuel economy, visit the EPA’s website.Interior, Comfort, and CargoUnfortunately, the Evoque’s chunky exterior dimensions belie its cabin space, which is tight—especially for those in the back seat. When compared with other subcompact SUVs such as the X1 and the XC40, the Evoque’s rear seats feel downright confined. That said, the interior materials are quite nice. The Evoque can be ordered with a very cool textured cloth upholstery that covers the seats, door panels, and dashboard; leather is still offered as standard, though. Other standard features include dual-zone automatic climate control, 10-way power-adjustable front seats, and ambient interior lighting. Cargo space behind the rear seat isn’t as generous as you’d expect from an SUV, but it held six carry-on suitcases in our testing, which aligns with a good part of the segment. The Car and Driver DifferenceInfotainment and ConnectivityAll Evoque models come with a curved 11.4-inch touchscreen running Land Rover’s latest Pivi Pro infotainment software. Most features can be accessed within two taps on the screen, and the new system includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with Amazon Alexa capability. A head-up display, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a Meridian premium audio system are all optional. How to Buy and Maintain a CarSafety and Driver-Assistance FeaturesThe Evoque is equipped with a host of standard driver-assistance features, with more offered as optional extras. For more information about the Evoque’s crash-test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites. Key safety features include:
- Standard automated emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection
- Standard lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist
- Available adaptive cruise control with semi-autonomous driving mode
Warranty and Maintenance CoverageWith a warranty that barely meets the industry standard, the Range Rover Evoque does nothing to stand out in this category. The Lexus NX may be a better choice for buyers who drive more than the average person, since that model comes with longer powertrain coverage.
- Limited warranty covers four years or 50,000 miles
- Powertrain warranty covers four years or 50,000 miles
- No complimentary scheduled maintenance
