Overview If you like your uber-luxury cars with a side of sports sedan excitement—and your investment portfolio is thick with big-time winners or your NBA contract just got renewed—then a 2026 Bentley Flying Spur could be your kind of ride. This grand-touring four-door marries the legendary high-end experience of Bentley sedans with a powerful plug-in hybrid powertrain and impeccable road manners. The cabin is decked out with the most premium materials, with the heady scent of cowhide and open-pore wood trim filling the otherwise purified air. While it sits alongside the swanky two-door Continental GT in the Bentley showroom, the Flying Spur’s large rear doors open to a far more spacious rear seat—your choice of a bench or a pair of buckets. Bentley will also happily customize your Spur with virtually any feature you can conjure, so go for it. What’s New for 2026?A 671-hp version of the Continental GT’s plug-in hybrid powertrain debuts for 2026, which you’ll find under the hood of both the new base model as well as a new mid-range Azure trim. Those two trims wear slightly different exterior detailing, with the base model mostly mirroring that of the Speed trim while the Azure features more exterior brightwork, including a grille with eleven vertical spines. While these models are sure to reduce the price of entry slightly, the Flying Spur remains a luxury sedan for those who can afford a car that costs five-to-six times the price of the average vehicle sold in the U.S.Pricing and Which One to BuyThe price of the 2026 Bentley Flying Spur is expected to start around $250,000 and go up to $300,000 depending on the trim and options.Flying Spur$250,000 (est)Azure$260,000 (est)Speed$280,000 (est)Mulliner$300,000 (est)We’d suggest going with a fully bespoke Mulliner build to make the Flying Spur uniquely yours. A seemingly endless array of exterior colors and styling choices await you in the Bentley Mulliner customization program. The same goes for interior appointments, which include several different types of wood, leather, and polished metal accents.Engine, Transmission, and Performance All Flying Spurs are powered by a plug-in hybrid powertrain borrowed from the Continental GT coupe and convertible. It pairs a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 engine with an electric motor and a decent-sized battery, so acceleration feels effortless even under light throttle. The base and Azure trims make 671 horsepower while Speed and Mulliner models get boosted to a whopping 771 ponies—the same output as in the Continental GT Speed. Save for an occasional uncouth tremor when the V-8 kicks on to aid the electric motor, the hybrid system is both smooth and powerful. An eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and all-wheel drive are both standard, as is a rear-wheel steering system which helps give the Flying Spur a surprisingly agile feel, particularly when maneuvering the big barge at low speeds. An adaptive suspension system with air springs and dual-valve dampers provides a wide range of settings. From our experience with recent versions of this generation of Flying Spurs, in comfort mode, it glides over road imperfections with very little intrusion to the cabin. But in sport mode, the suspension firms up and turns this limo into a surprisingly good imitation of a sports sedan.0–60-MPH TimesAfter test-driving the Flying Spur Speed, we estimate it will hit 60 mph in just 3.1 seconds. We look forward to testing that claim for ourselves when the updated Flying Spur lands at our office for testing.More on the Flying Spur SedanRange, Charging, and Battery LifeAn onboard battery pack is said to provide enough juice for 47 miles of driving range per charge, but that’s based on the overly optimistic European WLTP range estimate. We think the PHEV Flying Spur will deliver closer to an EPA-estimated 40 miles per charge. (The EPA has yet to deliver its range rating.) Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG The Flying Spur’s fuel-economy estimates from the EPA aren’t out yet, but historically this large luxury sedan has been far from efficient. The Flying Spur’s chief rival—the Rolls-Royce Ghost—doesn’t fare any better at the pump, but we suspect for buyers in this class, fuel efficiency isn’t a concern. For more information about the Flying Spur’s fuel economy, visit the EPA’s website.Interior, Comfort, and CargoSumptuous leather, rich wood trim, and beautifully wrought metal accents dress the Flying Spur’s interior. There’s plenty of space for adults to stretch out and enjoy the luxurious environs in both front and back. Bentley’s interior designers managed to preserve the brand’s prim and proper styling while incorporating modern tech features. A remote touchscreen controller mounted to the rear of the center console allows rear-seat riders to open and close the window shades, adjust the cabin climate, and activate the rear-seat massagers. A generously sized trunk offers plenty of space for luggage, cases of champagne, or a day’s worth of impulse shopping on Rodeo Drive. The Car and Driver DifferenceInfotainment and ConnectivityA large 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen is situated between large swaths of wood trim on the Flying Spur’s dashboard. For a price, Bentley will swap the static infotainment display screen for a powered setup that rotates the screen into the dashboard and brings up a wood panel featuring three analog dials (an outside temperature gauge, a clock, and a compass). Passengers can connect to a Wi-Fi hotspot, and those with compatible smartphones will enjoy the Spur’s wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Bentley provides a 10-speaker stereo system standard but will install one of two premium audio systems for more coin: either the 16-speaker Bang & Olufsen setup or the 19-speaker Naim system. How to Buy and Maintain a CarSafety and Driver-Assistance FeaturesBentley offers several driver-assistance features; surprisingly, many of them cost extra. For more information about the Flying Spur’s crash test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites. Key safety features include:
- Standard forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection
- Available automated emergency braking
- Available adaptive cruise control and night vision
Warranty and Maintenance CoverageBentley offers a three-year warranty with the purchase of a new model, but unlike plans from more mainstream luxury brands, there’s no mileage limit. Rolls-Royce offers a similar service and four years of coverage. Furthermore, Rolls-Royce offers four years of complimentary scheduled maintenance while Bentley covers only one.
- Limited warranty covers three years and unlimited miles
- Powertrain warranty covers three years and unlimited miles
- Complimentary maintenance is covered for one year or 10,000 miles
