There’s a chance that some 2025 Acura RDX models will lose their power steering. As a result, the automaker has issued a recall for 17,334 copies, which will each need to be brought to an Acura dealer for inspection. In a recall report submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Acura says that the issue stems from an improperly calibrated electronic power steering system. This can cause the system to enter a fail-safe mode, which disables the assistance that’s provided by power steering. That also leads to increased steering effort, making the SUV harder to control.AcuraAfter Honda (Acura’s parent company) received a complaint in October 2024, it began an investigation into the situation, according to the NHTSA documents. Earlier this year, the automaker concluded its investigation, which revealed that the issue occurred during development of the power steering software that was intended to comply with California’s stop-start requirements. While no deaths or injuries were reported, the problem had resulted in 84 warranty claims.Acura will mail owners of the affected 2025 RDX models, who will be told to bring their vehicle to a dealer. The dealership will then reprogram the power steering system with improved software.Other Recalls
